Ozone Radon 3k
Written by  Spirit - Saturday, 04 September 2010  (5 Comments )

The first thing that you notice when you open the Ozone Radon 3k package is the robust look of it all. The mouse has a solid aspect and when you pick it up putting your hand around it, feels just fine. Being a professional gaming mouse, the looks aren't what you really want to know about it but the first impression always counts for something.

Looking at some specs from the brand itself, Radon is equipped with the "Philips PLN Ultimate Laser Sensor, which covers a wide range from 100 to 3200 dpi, taking you to the next level in gaming experience and freedom of movements. There isn’t a tiny possibility that you might lose control with Radon, because it also has accurated and predictable motion reporting up to 2,25m/s, which is a great feature when you want high precission in what you do". Furthermore, it weighs around 135g, has a 4 level DPI indicator, has programmable functions and no drivers are requested as all the data is stored in the mouse itself.

So at first we were pleased with it all, but what remains to be seen is what really counts, as we sit down in order to play somes games with this piece of technology. Setting up the environment with the Ozone Strato headphones, Ozone Ground Level and Ozone Exposure mousepads, our all time favorite Quake games and the usual Counter-Strike Source, now we were ready to go. Starting with the hard surface Ozone Exposure mousepad as the Radon 3k partner, we could notice that the mouse was comfortable, well balanced (although you can use up to 5 extra counterweights of 4.5g each) and with all of the buttons and wheel within good range.

The first thing you need to do is to setup the DPI switch accordingly to the game that you will be playing and the sensitivity that you usually have. There is a whole lot of difference if you want to play a fast paced fps such as Quake Live and a more "quiet" game such as Counter-Strike Source. Once you figure it out, and do some fine adjustments, you forget about being in the game using a rather new mouse that you just connected to your computer a few minutes ago. The mouse is precise and works well in both games.

Although we were happy with the way things were going, we have decided to switch the mousepad to a softer Ozone Ground Level. And the funny thing was that we could really tell the difference. The movement and feeling were even better and when we compare the two mousepad surfaces working with the Radon 3k, we would choose the softer pads. This final setup was the best, composed by three excellent products from a brand that is really stepping up, raising the gaming peripherals quality standards and quality/cost ratio to a whole new level.
