Brazil without FIRE, KODE5 and ESWC
Written by   - Friday, 08 July 2011  (3 Comments )

2011 will be a rather complicated year for the Brazilian Counter-Strike after all the fuss that occurred in 2010, as three important tournaments, two in a world class level, won't be having a qualifier in Brazil this year. We are talking about FIRE, KODE5 and ESWC, with WCG as the last hope for Brazilian teams to attend a major event.

Brazil Counter-Strike

Last year, the company behing ESWC Brasil caused several problems by not paying the fees to the world finals organizers, not finding sponsors and changing the event place and dates, which led to a situation where nobody wants to organize the event this year. The Brazilian tour for FIRE 2011 also had the same problem, as no organization is willing to pay the costs to send a team to the South America Final in  Equador

The problem with KODE5 is quite different, as it's not only in Brazil that the tournament is in trouble. The Peru final was a failure and the prize money has not yet been delivered to the teams, with the player Juan Manuel "mvk" Argogliosi from Wild Ineters stating that: “We know that paying teams always takes a few months, but what we did not know is that they would be disrespecting us in such a way, not showing any life signs in months and disappearing from the face of the earth”. Another obstacle for this event is the return to Russia, significantly raising the costs for Brazilian teams.

The last hope is the World Cyber Games, although no related information has been published by Samsung.
