K1ck is celebrating its 15 years of existence and to somehow offer some kind of compensation to our dedicated fans that have been following us through all these years, we will be making a mega-contest that will hand over hundreds of euros in prizes from our sponsors Kingston, Ozone, Asus and Clickfiel, in a real treasure hunt across the social networks.
And in the first DotA 2 tournament that K1ck has ever played, things couldn't be better. Our k1ck.dota2 team has won the Fraglider Steelseries Cup, beating every opponent in the group stage and playoffs, not losing a single map in the entire competition. The 32 teams that attended the Cup let us think that the game will be quite popular in the country, same as in other countries, and in just a couple of weeks we will find that out in the XLParty FIL 2013 edition.
For one reason or another, mainly lack of required time from our players at a given moment, our Counter-Strike Global Offensive team has been having a somehow hard time in finding a stable duo to complete our core trio of players, fox, mUt and rmn. This time we will be back into an all Portuguese lineup as Aguila, who has achieved some great performances while defending the K1ck colors including a victory over NiP, is out of the team.
But we also have good news for our followers as Helder "coachi" Sancho, who has retired from competitive gaming a while ago, will be our Public Relations concerning our CS:GO section. Although he hung his mouse, he will still be connected with K1ck, the team he has played for almost all of the last 5 years, now in a different role.
Once again there will be a DotA 2 tournament at this year's XLParty FIL edition, but this time with a twist, as it will be an ASUS ROG event. This means that the prize for the first place will be provided by ASUS and we couldn't obviously miss it, now that our k1ck.dota2 is doing so fine at the Fraglider Steelseries Cup, already qualified for the winners final after beating Panthers in the semis.
Once again K1ck will be taking part in another SLTV StarSeries Season. Since our 7th place in Season VI that things have been going fine and now that Season VIII is about to start, our expectations are high, as usual. Featuring the same $15,000 up for grabs as in the last season, the four finalists will sort it out between December the 19th and the 22nd in Kiev, at the CyberSports ARENA.
Following the retirement of our Counter-Strike Global Offensive captain, our k1ck.csgo team had to make some obvious changes and our choice to fill in the vacant position was Ricardo "AIm" Almeida, a former Counter-Strike 1.6 player that has crossed our path many times in the past.
Sometimes we have to write sad news here at k1ck.com (although most of time we have great and exciting news), and unfortunately this is one of those occasions. Our long time CS/CS:GO team captain Helder "coachi" Sancho is retiring from the competitive eSports due to the lack of time, as he trying to succeed in his professional career. Being "one of us" since 2008 and forever, his first tournament under the K1ck colors was the LG Master Cup, a competition that K1ck won taking home the trophy and 10 000 Eur. Now almost five years and many victories later, it's time to say, not goodbye, but see you later to one of the most representative members of our club.
Tomorrow will be an important day for all the Call of Duty series lovers as Call of Duty: Ghosts is to be published. In fact, the upcoming first-person shooter video game from Activision, the tenth main installment in the series, will be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360 on November 5th and PlayStation 4 plus Xbox One on November 15th and November 22nd respectively. In the meantime, check out the Official Call of Duty: Ghosts Live-Action Trailer featuring the beautiful Megan Fox.
Being one of the biggest games out there, K1ck would inevitably jump aboard DotA 2 sooner or later, so today we would like to announce our k1ck.dota2 team, packed with great players from the Portuguese scene that have already won one of the few DotA 2 lan tournaments in the country, the XLParty to be more precise.
The Electronic Sports World Cup group draw has already been made and K1ck has been inserted in Group B, along with the number 1 French team, CPH Wolves and C# Gaming. Back in Paris for six days of entertainment and some hard Counter-Strike Global Offensive games, our team has been preparing for the event for the last few weeks.
