Lately we are witnessing a new trend in eSports where everybody seems to have a truck full of cash to offer in huge events. Million Dollar tournaments are popping out of the bushes and although one might say that it's only in some particular game, well, it's not. They repeatedly did it for League of Legends, Call of Duty and quite recently for DotA 2. Other games are trying to get to the same level and now we have Counter-Strike Global Offensive as a strong contender with the $250 000 dollar Dreamhack Winter tournament, a competition that will handout money to 16 teams, according to the first published details regarding the event.

The banner that illustrates this news brings back so many good moments for K1ck eSports Club that we can only wish to relive them, as history tends to repeat itself. But the past belongs to the museums, as the Brazilians use to say, so we are looking at the present and the future, as always. And the present tells us that our k1ck.csgo team is in the ESWC.pt playoffs, after winning every Group A match in day one.
** UPDATE **
K1ck has won the ESWC Portugal 2013 after beating
Damn-It in the final match by a 2:0 score.

A new DotA 2 competition was born yesterday, with NaVi and
Virtus.pro lining up to create what they have called the DotA 2 Champions League. Ten invited teams coming from Europe and the United States will be fighting in this league for a share of the guaranteed $50 000 prize-money, plus 25% of the total DotATV ticket sales, which will certainly cause some impact in the community.

After a somehow troubled start at the SLTV StarSeries Season VII, our K1ck Counter-Strike Global Offensive team has returned to the good path and won the match vs Na´Vi in the third round. Having two defeats in two rounds (one default in the vacations period and the other in a map that we have little experience, so far), this was an important match where we would be facing a great opponent and a third defeat would leave the team quite distant from the place that we have are aiming at, since the beginning of the competition.

In the last few days a K1ck Counter-Strike Global Offensive mix team has been playing the Fraglider Open Cup for the fun of it, plus some prizes offered by the cup sponsors. Today we have won all of the playoffs games that we have disputed, including the final, which makes k1ck.mix the winning team of the tournament.

After an interregnum that lasted 1 year, give or take a few days, Helder "coachi" Sancho has returned to K1ck eSports Club, a news that many of our fans were expecting since our Club and the player went on separate ways with the advent of Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Being our CS 1.6 leader ingame for almost 4 years (Nov 2008 - Sept 2012), we are glad to say that the captain is back!

Rumors have been hanging for a while regarding a big CS:GO event sponsored by Valve, featuring a large prize-money as it has never seen before in the game series. In this case the rumors were true, as the company has announced a $250,000 community-funded prize pool for the 2013 DreamHack SteelSeries Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) Championship to be held in Jönköping as usual.

Since the moment that our K1ck.csgo team has returned from vacations that things have been quite busy around here. We have swapped two players, performed quite well at their debut and started the new season of some online competitions. Right now we are attending the MSI Beat it! 2013 European Finals, already in the final 6 teams playoff stage, after surviving in a group where we had to beat
Fnatic,
NaVi and
3DMAX leaving them behind, also the SLTV StarSeries where we have a 50% victory ratio, but some time ago we also took the decision to skip the ESEA Season, as the overpriced competition still has a lot to improve before being interesting for the Europeans, as only
NiP attended the finals in the US last season, after all the other teams declined the invitation to do so, K1ck included.

Following the announcement of our two League of Legends teams, everybody has obviously been expecting an opportunity to watch them fight against each other. Although the lineups have been recently created with a large margin for improvement as time goes by, we have decided to let the public know how they are doing so far, by organizing a showmatch that will take place this Thursday, 21h00 WEST. This match will be streamed live in our K1ckTV Twitch channel with xyeh on the comments, as usual.
