Now that the Summer is around the corner, it's time to look at the Lan Party situation in Portugal. Once a good resource for some of the best organizations in the country when it comes to gathering money and stuff, is it still working in this economic crisis scenario all around ?

We might be tempted to say that the answer is no. Some of the traditional lanparties closed down for good, some like Futurtech will be taking a break in 2009 and some like XLParty don't hand over cash prizes.

A new research from the NPD Group has found that the number of Americans who play video games has surpassed the number who go to movies. In a survey of over 11,000 people, 63% had played a video game within the past six months, while only 53% had gone to a movie.

They also found that the purchase of game consoles was on the rise, as were new methods of accessing the games themselves, such as playing over a social networking site or downloading a game onto a mobile phone.

Always a classic when it comes to online gaming, we have seen some Quake Live action here in K1ck eSports Club, along with some related news about the release of new maps. In fact, /< yuka got the second podium position at the Slovenian QL Duel Liga, /< Sl1p won the Segundo Torneo GM some time ago, and the Quake Live website refers plans to release six new maps over the next six weeks.

Our very own k1ck.gow2 team won yet another tournament, extending the series of triumphs online and in LAN tournaments. This time we got our hands on the 5º Torneio Oficial Xbox Live beating Revoltados at the final game.

This weekend the K1ck eSports Club Counter-Strike team, with a little help from the well known gaming hardware company Razer, will be playing the Kode5 Finals in Moscow, a single elimination Best Of Three Counter-Strike event. Sixteen teams will be competing for the glory and those that lose the first match will immediately stand aside. The draw has already been made so here are the first round matches:

Today starts another k1ck.css excursion in Europe, this time with Bressuire as final destination. In fact K1ck eSports Club Counter-Strike Source team will be attending the LAN79, a major CSS event with many of the great teams that you can find all around.

Today was the final game at the GoPro Halo 3 4vs4 tournament. Facing energie5, our k1ck.halo3 team won [03:00] and added this triumph to the one we had at the GoPro FFA #2 Halo 3 cup, with our four players in the first four positions.
