"TS allows for instantaneous communication between players, teams, and admins. I am surprised that more players do not use this great tool. If everyone was on TS I think we would eliminate most of the bitching about who is doing what to whom...the in-game messages are ineffectice and are easily missed. With TS, detail about situations can be gathered in a timely and efficient manner w/o adversely effecting someones ability to continue playing (ie typing a message). Plus it is the absolute best way to call out enemy movements and the need for support.
To begin using teamspeak download the program from here: ftp://webpost.teamspeak.org/release...nt_rc2_2032.exe. Install the program and open it. At the main TeamSpeak 2 window, click on "Connection" then right-click in the big white window on the left. Click on "Add Server" and Type in whatever you want to call the connection and hit enter. Now on the right hand side of the window: under "Server Address" type the IP and in for "Nickname" type your in-game nic. Please use the same name in TS that you use when you play..this eliminates confusion. Make sure "anonymous" is checked. That's all that the info needed on this window. Hit connect and you are in.
Next let's tweak a few settings. While connected to the server, click on settings (upper right) then Sound Options. In the Voice Send Options box, select "push to talk" then push set, now press the key you wish to use to enable speech (I use Ctrl but any key will work). Try and pick a key that is easily accessible and not assigned to another function in-game. Do NOT leave the setting on Voice Activated..it is very annoying to the other users. After making your key selection hit close. But, remember in order for others to hear you talk, you must hit the key you programed above.
Stay in the server for the next settings also. Ok, now let's set u some keybinds for switching channels w/o alt+tab'ing out of the game. Even though we are all basically using the same channel right now, as the server grows we will most likely need to start utilizing separate channels for coalition and opposition. You can easily set up "key binds" to switch between channels(autobalance ya know). You can also set "key binds" to switch between different game channels..ie ET/COD/Q3 (handy if you need an admin in a hurry).
Again click on settings then on Key settings. Click "Add", now you will pick the key combination you want to use to make the channel change. In the "Key Combination" box click the"Set" button under the first white box w/ "none" in it. Then press the first key of the combination you want to use..in my case "Alt". Repeat this procedure for the 2nd box, and 3rd (if you want a 3 key combo). Next, under "Action" click on "Switch To", then "Channel", then click the down arrow to the right of the white box above the pswd box..Select the channel you want the above keybind to reference the click ok.
Voila...1 down. Repeat the above procedure for each of the "key binds" you wish to program. That finishes the installation and setup of TS. But, if you want something really cool...you need this little extra: TeamSpeak Overlay (TSO), here is the link to the download: http://www.qbnut.com/tso/download.p...n32-Build41.zip
Here is the link to the site: http://www.qbnut.com/tso/
This sweet little program displays the name of person speaking on TS in-game!!! It is awesome...names show on the far left about 1/2 way down the game screen. To use it: Download and install. Open TS, open TSO and click on "Enable", now logon to TS and start your game."
